Alvin J. Wentland, 98, of Lake Andes , went to his heavenly home Friday, October 27 at Lake Andes Healthcare Center. Funeral service was Tuesday, October 31. Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Lake Andes.

Alvin was born June 11, 1925 to Paul and Hannah (Pederson) Wentland on the family farm near Lake Andes. He grew up on the farm and attended country school near there. He serviced his country during World War II in the United States Army from April 13, 1945 until being honorably discharged on December 1, 1946. He was united in marriage to Ethel Morgan on November 9, 1947 in Lake Andes. He lived in Pickstown where he worked for the Corp of Engineers before moving to Wyoming where he worked in the oil fields. He returned to Pickstown and again worked for the Corp of Engineers. In retirement, Alvin had various jobs including working for Pipes Plumbing. He was a member of the VFW and was a volunteer fireman for the city of Pickstown. He could fix just about anything and enjoyed riding 4 wheelers and UTVs, hunting, fishing and playing cards.

Grateful for having shared his life are his three children: Ronald (Jean) Wentland of Corsica; Patty (Mike) Crockett of Noble, OK; and Mike (Michelle) Wentland of Lake Andes; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and five siblings: Rosemary Bucholz of Lake Andes; Robert Wentland of Lewiston, ID; Norma VanZee of Platte; Glen (Kathy) Wentland of Mt. Vernon and Larry (Mary) Wentland of Nampa, ID.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ethel; four brothers, Paul, George, Harold and Walter and two sisters, Alice and Mavis.
