Alan Provost, 69, of Marty died Monday, May 2, 2022 at the Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, IA. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 7 at the Ihanktonwan Community Center in Marty. Burial was in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Marty. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Alan Joseph Provost was born on January 27, 1953. Alan’s parents were Cecil Provost and Merna McBride. Alan’s brothers are Victor, Cecil, Jesse, Peter, John and Ben. His sisters are Phoebe, Cecily, Geraldine and Angela. Alan married Mary Culbertson in 1973 and their union created three children: Alan Jr., Angel and Amorette.

Alan was always a hard worker and he went on to earn his journeyman plumber license while living in Denver, Colorado. If you asked what he wanted to do or liked during his life it would always involve some type of work. His work ethic inspired many of his younger siblings, nephews and grandchildren.

Alan also liked telling stories of his life experiences. Much like his father, we could listen to his stories over and over and laugh as if it was the first time we heard them. Throughout his life Alan established many close friendships that he carried with him. Everywhere he went he would make friends. He will be missed by all his friends and family.

Alan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Eli Provost and Emalia Blackmoon; maternal grandparents Benjamin McBride and Phoebe Red Lightning, his parents Cecil Provost and Merna McBride, his sisters: Phoebe Iron Necklace and Angela Provost, his brother Peter, his children: Alan, Angel and Amorette Provost; along with many uncles, aunts, grandparents, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Alan is survived by his wife Mary Provost, his brothers: Victor, Cecil, Jesse, John and Ben, his sisters: Cecily and Geraldine; along with many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
