The Region 1A 16U Teener tournament was hosted in Wagner July 25-27. In addition to Wagner, Chamberlain, Madison Gold, and Wessington Springs would also be competing for a spot in the state tournament.
Read moreThe Tabor Legion Baseball team with a 19-7 record headed into Region play against Mt Vernon/Plankinton Corsica-Stickney on Tuesday, July 19 in Menno. Tabor was on the bottom side of a final 11-8 score, but battled their way back defeating Scotland Menno 11-10, Parkston 10- 6; and MVP Corsica-Stickney 10-1. Saturday’s championship action had the Tabor team facing Platte Geddes and taking control of that game in a 14-0 score. Tabor would again take on Platte Geddes, but a homerun with one on base in the bottom of the 7th put them on the downside of a final 4-2 score. Members of the team include (L-R) Nolan Dvorak, Dustin Honomichl, and Nolan Carda, all from Wagner.
Read moreOn Monday, July 18, Wagner’s 16U teener team traveled north of I-90 into McCook County to take on the Salem Cubs. This was a pitcher’s duel as Carter Cournoyer for Wagner and Carter Randall for the Cubs made quick work of most batters. Unfortunately for Wagner, Salem ended up with a bit more offense as they would come out on top by a score of 2-1.
Read moreWagner Building & Supply held their second annual golf tournament on Saturday, July 18 at the WBS Open, which was located at Randall Hills Golf Course in Pickstown. The much-needed rain didn't allow for golfers to complete a full 18 holes, but many golfers walked away with cash and prizes! It was a fun day, and we couldn't have asked for a better turnout. Many of the teams were locals, but we had golfers from Sioux Falls, Nebraska, and Iowa!
Read moreThanks to the kindness and generosity of friends and family, I’ve done quite a bit of fishing this year. This action included Francis Case Reservoir, Saskatchewan, area bass ponds, and lately Wisconsin’s Lakes Mendota and Winnebago. Using light spinning tackle, I’ve been fortunate enough to land northern pike, walleye, largemouth bass, and smallmouth bass that would look good on the cover of any outdoor publication. I’ve kept a few smallmouths and walleyes for the table, but what I relished most is the actual fight. With all, I eagerly look forward to seeing what’s actually on the end of my line though I can usually tell by the nature of the fight.

Read moreThe Zion Lutheran Youth Group attended the LCMS National Youth Gathering in Houston, Texas from July 7th – 13th. The ten youth group members attended a South Dakota event, bible studies, themed breakout sessions, and mass events to celebrate how God is “In All Things”. They also participated in a servant event where they built and delivered beds to children for the organization “Sleep in Heavenly Peace.” The event was attended by over 20,000 youth and it provided a great opportunity to learn and grow in their faith.
