The Wagner Boys Golf team traveled to Plankington to compete against Winner and Chamberlain. Only two members of the team were able to compete, but it was important to get a competitive round of golf in before regions next week. Matt Link and Colby Krcil both golfed well on the day but did not place as the meet didn’t have awards. This was the last regular season meet and both golfers have gradually improved all season long. Our next meet will be Monday, September 26th in Mitchell for region 3A and a chance to compete in state.

Read moreIt was another warm day to race for The Wagner Cross Country Team. This time, the meet was held at the golf course near Tyndall. This is the most challenging course the Raiders have to run all season. This course is fully of long, tall hills and the runners have to take on two of the greatest hills on this course as they run their races. The students are glad to have this race in the books. However, this will not be the last time they race this course this 2022 cross country season. The region meet will be held here again at the end of the season. The team is preparing for this course again for regions with specialized training runs involving hills.

There were some good plays from both sides and good communication between them. Raegan Brandt served and scored with a fierce serve that hit the ground on the opposing side during the game.
Read moreSiblings in school can have many different opinions about each other. After talking to a couple of siblings in the school I realized that siblings could have very different views of each other. Most siblings agreed that having a sibling in school is useful and helpful sometimes. However, siblings do get annoyed with each other. One sibling mentioned that a household nickname had spread around the school because of their family and it leaves them pretty uncomfortable when others use it. Another sibling said that when they forget something at home they can always ask the other to get it for them which is very useful at times. So from what I can see siblings don’t seem to mind going to school together although they might get on each other's nerves a lot, they always look out for each other and help when needed.
Read moreLindsey Fathke became the new K-12 principal this year at Avon School District. Lindsey started at Avon as a sixth grade teacher, and continued for four years. Before Avon she taught at Bon Homme for eight years. When asked about her morning routineasaprincipal,sheresponded saying, “When I get to school in the morning I load up my computer, check my emails, my phone messages, check my planner, and make a small to-do list for the day.” Lindsey imagines a day at work as making a list of what she may need to do and/or anything that gets brought to her attention. She likes to walk through the hallways and bops through classrooms throughout the day.

He's been teaching for 35 years and has taughtinAvonfor33years.When asked how he spends his summer breaks,herespondedwith,“Updating the technology at school and spending time outdoors with his wife and grandchildren.” If Poppe were to win the lottery and give up teaching he said, “He would love to travel the world with his wife.” Mr. Poppe defines a “good day” at school as, ''when all the technology and computers are working, and seeingallthekidsbeingsuccessful and accomplishing their goals, is the highlight of his teaching career” says Mr. Poppe. For him, the best thing about teaching is working and seeing the students every day, and can't say anything negative about teaching. When he wasaskedabouthowhethinkshis studentswillrememberhisclass, he responded with, '' working hard, but still having lots of fun in the classroom”. In addition to teaching, Mr. Poppe has been a well-knownandwell-lovedcoach. He has coached boy’s basketball, girl’sbasketball,volleyball,track, football, and golf. His funniest moment in teaching was a couple of years ago, when the schedule had changed, but he didn't know it,wenthomeforlunch,andforgot that he had a whole classroom full of kids with no teacher! His motto is “Enjoy every new day that you are given, because you never know what will happen”.
