Dick Padrnos, formerly of Lake Andes, was inducted into the South Dakota Basketball Hall of Fame on August 24th in Sioux Falls. Padrnos was a standout basketball player for the Lake Andes High School Eagles during the years of 1947 through 1951. He wore number 33 and was the team’s center. As an eighth grader, Padrnos was a starter on the varsity basketball team and started for the Eagles for five seasons. He led the team in scoring his freshmen through senior year and would score 250-300 points per season. During his senior year, Padrnos averaged 23 points per game with his highest scoring game against Armour where he scored 40 points. He helped lead the Eagles to their first state basketball tournament in 1951, where they finished in 3rd place. The Eagles ended that season with a 30-1 win-loss record.

His game-day routine consists of a lot of sleep, a good breakfast in the morning, and making it on the bus on time. When asked what his favorite hype-up song is, he responded Sandman by Metallica. For the rest of the season, he looks forward to staying healthy and continuing to win games. Easton’s favorite thing about football is spending time with all of his teammates and making lifelong memories.

When we asked Jack what his meet-day routine was, he replied, “I make sure I eat a wellmaintained breakfast. At meets, Jack stretches to make sure he is prepared. We then asked him if he had a hype-up song that he listens to before meets. Jack responded, “Call Me Late by NBA Youngboy.” Then we asked Jack what his favorite thing about cross country is. He replied, “my favorite thing aboutcrosscountryishangingoutwithfriendsandrunning.” Lastly, we asked, “what do you most look forward to for the rest of the season?” Jack replied, “I want to make it to the state because it's in Rapid, and I can stay in a hotel.”
