The July 20th Rotary meeting began with a delicious steak meal prepared by Super Foods. Rotarian Scott McAdaragh did an excellent job with the steaks. There were no guests present as we normally do not have a program for steak day. The losing attendance team, which was the Brunsing Team paid for all the steaks which is our customary way of enjoying a meal and encouraging the losing team to do better!
Read moreAmerican Legion Greer Post #11 held its monthly meeting on July 21st, 2022 at the Post Home with 26 members in attendance. Commander Rados introduced John Crisman, who presented a very interesting story about his relative, Tony Skorpik. Skorpik was a WWII veteran who served in the Army Air Corps. He was shot down over Austria and was held as a prisoner of war for 10 months. Commander Rados thanked John for sharing his story and also thanked the cooks for the outstanding meal. Commander Clayton Rados then called the members to attention. Chaplain Donald Kotab gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members. Commander Rados then called the meeting to order.

Read moreThe Derecho storm that swept through Avon in May, left damage and ruble in it's wake. In town, the Avon football/track buildings took a big hit. Since the storm, Terry and Nathan Schultz have been hard at work to get the buildings back in working order before the football season begins.

Read moreMass of Christian Burial for Priscilla Lee, 76, of Sioux Falls was held Tuesday, July 19 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Marty. Burial was in the Marty Catholic cemetery. Peters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
