Two months before the November presidential election, two nonprofits are announcing a new campaign — not for a candidate, but for the voters. Natives Vote, organized by IllumiNative and the Native Organizers Alliance, is pulling out all the stops. “Our communities have untapped power because of our history, our ancestors—we must use it in many ways from the streets to the ballot box. Exercising our grassroots political power is crucial to rebuilding what we’ve lost and preparing the future for the next seven generations,” says IllumiNative Executive Director Crystal Echo Hawk, in a release. These non-profits are partnering with local grassroots like BRAVE HEART SOCIETY to GOTV , get out the vote. Four locals will be pounding the roads to encourage voter registration, absentee voting awareness and early voting. Among the 60 hired across the country to push the power of the Native vote are locals: Jane St. John-Sanchez, Lauren Crowe, Hoksina Rouse and Wm Roller, Jr. Look for them on social media, the Announcer, the radio stations and in the communities socially distanced with masks and face shields. Most importantly register to vote now!!!!
