Ravinia Fire Department received a $3,000 check from the Fire & Iron Station 49 out of Mitchell's 'Ride for Responders'. A percentage of the funds raised was available with local fire departments open to apply. Twelve departments applied for the program and Ravinia Fire Department was the lucky winner. The National Motorcycle Club donates to fire victims, food pantries and backpack programs from a percentage of their poker run funds. The Avon Community VBS was held July 31 through August 4th at the Avon City Park from 9 a.m. to noon. There were 47 students registered the first day with the theme being, “Keepers of the Kingdom.” Each day the children were taught about the Middle Ages and the Good ( God’s ) Kingdom or the Bad (Satan’s) Kingdom. King Aaron (Rush) and Lord Hayden (Talsma) did askitintroducingGod’sArmor for the opening each morning. Lord Hayden was dressed in the full suit of Armor of God on Friday, as he had followed the Code of Conduct all week and was now prepared to be a knight in God’s Army.
