Read moreTo its owner, the FFA jacket is a physical reminder of the personal accomplishments achieved through the organization - a symbol of commitment and dedication for all who wear the corduroy. This fall, a record number 450 South Dakota FFA members from 84 chapters, will receive their own FFA jackets - carrying forward that long-standing tradition of pride, dignity and honor. Jackets were sponsored by various individuals through the SD FFA Foundation program, welcoming new members into the fabric of FFA. FFA members filled out the Blue Jackets Bright Futures FFA Jacket Program application, answering short essay questions about their FFA experience and goals, competing to earn their own FFA jacket instead of purchasing one. 2023 local recipients are:
Read morecomes to Andes Central from the Chamberlain School District where she was first a first-grade teacher and then became the seventh and eighth grade social studies teacher. Eidsness was born and raised in Hartford. She is the oldest of three children. Her younger sister is a massage therapist in Sioux Falls and her brother is currently a student at the University of South Dakota (USD). Teela is the name of her cat. When Brooke is not teaching, she enjoys time on the river, reading, and spending time with friends. She loves anything and everything Harry Potter and one item on her bucket list is to travel to every continent. She has been to North America, South American and Europe so far.
Read moreAfter 32 years of working for the USPS, Tammy Rokusek has decided to retire. Tammy was lucky enough to follow in her father’s, Dean Swanson, footsteps. She started her career at the Geddes Post Office in 1991. Throughout her career, she has worked at Armour, Pickstown, Fairfax, Tripp, Avon, Wagner, Platte, New Holland, and Corsica in various positions. Tammy has enjoyed serving her customers the most and will miss seeing them each day at the window. She has been in Lake Andes since 2011. After 32 years, Tammy has decided to throw away the alarm clock, do all the crocheting she can, and spend time with her nine grandchildren and husband Gary on the farm.
