2010 — 10 Years Ago

Michele Koupal and Cullen Wilson were married July 17 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Dante. Parents are Dwayne and Rosie Koupal of Dante and Randy and Darla Wilson of Colman.

Services were held December 4 for Tommy Svatos at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Lake Andes.

Jacqueline Juffer and Elizabeth Donelan competed at the state oral interp contest and received excellent ratings.

Austin Weber, Andrew Krcil, Jack Robinson, Solomon St. Pierre, Tyler Krcil, Levi Geiman, Anthony Anderson, Derek Dickerson, Alex Kocer and Brett Kucera were named to the SESD Conference Team.

Carolyn Blaha, Taylor Eitemiller, Sadie Eitemiller, Britney Krcil, Rose Eitemiller, Maggie Barnett, Kelsey Barnett, Keegan Alderink and Michael Barnett, piano students of Julia Jaeger, entertained the residents of Wagner Good Samaritan.

Raider wrestling team traveled to Kimball for the annual invitational and came home with big wins.

Alex Kocer was awarded the most valuable wrestler award.

2000 - 20 Years Ago

Ed and Marilyn Zylstra announced the birth of their granddaughter Madelyn Clare . Parents are Mark and Christy Walsh of Sioux Falls.

A Christmas lighting ceremony was held at Good Samaritan Center.

Services were held for Fay Carda at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church December 7.

Amber Alderink was the local winner of the District Voice of Democracy contest.

Austin Kropenska was named volunteer of the week at the Boys and Girls Club.

Ed Kafka and Robert Soukup boarded a shuttle bus to Annapolis to attend the Army/Navy football game.

Volunteers at the Heritage Court in Wagner were honored.

1990 — 30 Years Ago

Greg Krcil, junior wrestler for the Red Raiders, picked up the “Most Valuable Wrestler” award at the Kimball Tournament.

Jennifer Koupal was honored with the area title “Miss Southeastern SD Teen.”

Don Hubbard was elected president of the Chamber of Commerce, Rick Thaler, vice president; Marcia Honomichl, sec., and Rob Frei, treas.

Mildred Cuka was named Wagner Good Samaritan Employee of the month.

1975 — 45 Years Ago

Ed Staudenmier was elected president of the Chamber of Commerce, Al Fechner, vice president; Albert Kocer, treas., and John Faughender, sec.

The Wagner National Guard was planning a 20 year reunion. The Guard unit was organized in December of 1955.

Sylvia Gonsales and Dennis Andersh announced their engagement.

Renee Youngbluth was selected East Charles Mix High D.A.R. candidate.

1960 — 60 Years Ago

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Youngbluth celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.

Cheryl Ells, Carol Mach and Frances Stedronsky were members of the SD State College Chorus which presented Handel’s, The Messiah.

Junior Schoepf spent six months at National Guard Camp at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Soukup, Jr.

1950 — 70 Years Ago

Donald A. Novak was dismissed from Bremerton Naval Hospital in Washington where he had been since June 3.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Luverne Gramkow, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Otto Jerke.

Mrs. Hannah Williams entertained friends at a farewell gathering honoring Mrs. Albin Anderson who, with her husband, moved from Wagner.

1925 — 95 Years Ago

H.C. Schneider and J.W. Eggers repaired and repainted office rooms in the building formerly occupied by the Post. Mr. Eggers owns the building and, aside from caring for his farm business, will handle seed and grains. Mr. Schneider will transact real estate and insurance business.

Lack of cells in the county jail made itnecessary to utilize the jury room to accommodate part of the county guest.
