10 YEARS AGO

2015

The Charles Mix Historical Society was highlighted in the paper with a story regarding six century old buildings they preserved for the public’s education. Noted was a school house, the Dowling family home, the New Salem Reformed Church, the Tome Base Shoe Shop, a 119 year old post office and a garage transformed into a blacksmith shop.

20 YEARS AGO

2005

Tim Burton’s the Corpse Bride was playing at the Lorain Theatre in Armour.

Joe Stedronsky was honored with a distinguished service award at the district 5610 Rotary Conference held in Rapid City.

Wagner Community Memorial Hospital announced the election of Ann Freier-Metzger of Wagner and Melvin Horner of Ravinia to the hospital’s Board of Directors.

Myrtle Hollman was honored with Lifetime Membership Award with the National Guard Auxiliary.

30 YEARS AGO

1995

Ken and Ruth Dvorak celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and Lyle and Helen Koupal celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

Grant Stedronsky and Julie Houchen were engaged. A son was born to Stan and Kathy Jaeger. The Yankton Sioux Travel Plaza opened for business.

45 YEARS AGO

1980

Gene Kisch bowled a perfect game at the Wagner Bowl.

Mr. and Mrs. Mike Krsnak celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

Funeral services were held for long time dentist, Wm H. Hirsch. Dr. Hirsch.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dale Robertson.

60 YEARS AGO

1965

Pamela Parker and Pvt. Robert Bures announced their engagement.

Joseph Hudson, son of Mrs. Bessie Red Hawk retired after 22 years of military service.

Carl Soulek and Loretta Gray exchanged vows.

70 YEARS AGO

1955

The First Presbyterian Church was moved into the city.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Stolz and a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Zacharias.

Casey Buus resigned as manager of the Farmers Exchange. Three Wagner boys were on the Pointers squad at Southern State Teachers College, they were Mark Chytka, Tippy Bridge and Marlin Goldhammer.

92 YEARS AGO

1933

Archie Brewster sent three entries to the Poultry Exposition at the World’s Fair in Chicago consisting of one cockerel, one hen and one pullet.

Dave Reinhart threshed wheat for Otto Hennies. The yield was only 5 bu. to the acre.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. George Soukup and a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Crisman.
