WHAT IS CHRISTMAS?

By

Just Thought I'd Ask

This time of year for many months people are spending their time looking for the perfect gift to give someone. They will endure heavy traffic, very full parking lots, weather and road conditions, crowded department stores and long lines to pay for this gift. Take it home and wrap it up for the person for whom it was purchased. This is repeated over and over during this season, because it is Christmas, the season of giving. Many people do not realize what and why there is a Christmas. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son...”(KJV) Matthew 1:20,21 “The Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, “ Saying, Joseph thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.”(KJV) After Jesus was grown and spake of His Father’s love for the world, His mercy toward those who believed in Him. Jesus proclaimed in John 14:6 how a person could go to heaven, “ Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.”(KJV) God’s greatest gift to man, His only begotten Son. The day Christmas is the celebration of the birth of God’s Son, Jesus. The real reason for the season is Jesus. So when you receive gifts from friends or relatives remember that they would not be giving you a gift on Christmas if it wasn’t for God’s love to give His Son to the world. So as you see the lights and hear the music it is all because Jesus loves you so much that He gave His life for you. Jesus is why you have this day at all. As you thank your friends or relatives for the gifts they give you remember to thank the Lord for Jesus. Will you do that on Christmas? Just Thought I’d Ask
