The Lady Raiders hosted the #2 Class B team, the 9-0 Parkston Trojans last Thursday in girls basketball action. Parkston would jump our to an early 6-2 lead but he Raiders would out score the Trojans 9-1 the last 5 minutes of the 1st quarter to take a 11-7 lead. Wagner’s defense would hold the Trojans at bay allowing only 5 points the second quarter to take a 23-12 lead into the half. Parkston would cut that lead to 7 after the third as the Raiders would still hold a 30-23 advantage. Parkston would cut the gap to 4 a couple of times only to see Wagner spike the lead back to 10 and eventually come away with a 48-37 victory. Wagner would finish 16-38 from the field for 42% while holding the Trojans to just 30%, 16-54. Wagner would hit 11-15 from the foul line while Parkston would go 2-6. Wagner would control the glass with a 32-25 margin. The Raiders would commit 16 turn overs compared to 12 from Parkston. Ashlyn Koupal would lead all scorers with 35 points, 17 boards, 8 blocks, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Mateya Bruguier would finish with 4 points. Braxton Nedved would add 3 points and dish out 2 assists. Ravyn Medricky would tally 2 points, 3 boards and 2 assists. Hayden Knudesen and Peytyn Wiechmann would round out the scoring with 2 points apiece. Peytyn would grab boards in her effort.
