Even though Wagner Varsity gave up three runs in the second inning, they still defeated Scotland/Menno 4-3 on Tuesday. Scotland/Menno big bats were led by Treyton Sayler and Turner Nicholson, both driving in runs in the inning.
Wagner Varsity responded with three runs of their own in the third inning. In the third, Corbin Carda singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs and Colby Krcil doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Nolan Dvorak got the win for Wagner. Dvorak went five innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out seven and walking one.
Kory Keppen took the loss for Scotland/Menno. Keppen lasted five and a third innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out six.
Dustin Honomichl started the game for Wagner Varsity Wagner. The righthander surrendered three runs (zero earned runs) on three hits over two innings, striking out four and walking zero.
Dvorak led Wagner Varsity with two hits in three at bats. Wagner Varsity stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Honomichl led the way with two. All Wagner hitters reached base in the game.
Wagner will enter postseason play with a Region 1 record of 7-3 (7-5 overall).
