The Wagner Bon Homme gymnastics team competed in a dual against Parkston–Ethan–Hutchinson (PEH) on Saturday, December 20, and showed noticeable improvement from their season-opening meet.
The Lady Gymnasts improved their team score by just over four points from their first meet to their second, a positive sign as the young squad continues to gain confidence and experience. Coaches noted continued focus on improving cleanliness of performance, swiftness in connections, and maintaining precise body positions.
Despite their youth, the gymnasts have shown strong motivation and a willingness to push themselves while competing and learning from judges’ feedback.
On the bars, varsity scores were turned in by Kamryn Krueger (3.35), Aubry Williams (5.30), Addison Cuka (6.70, 7th place), Dusti Laska (3.75), Amelia Rathgeber (3.95), Emma McNinch (6.00), and Aspyn Schroeder (6.00).
Varsity beam performances included Aubry Williams (6.45), Addison Cuka (7.50, 7th), Dusti Laska (7.05), Julia Krug (6.55), Amelia Rathgeber (7.70, 6th), Emma McNinch (7.80, 5th), and Aspyn Schroeder (6.40).
On the floor exercise, Kamryn Krueger scored a 5.40, while Aubry Williams earned an 8.75 to place fifth. Addison Cuka added an 8.40, Dusti Laska scored a 7.70, Amelia Rathgeber a 7.85, Emma McNinch an 8.35, and Aspyn Schroeder a 6.15.
Vault scores for the varsity included Julia Krug (7.55), Aubry Williams (8.10, 7th), Addison Cuka (7.70), Dusti Laska (8.10, 7th), Amelia Rathgeber (7.60), Emma McNinch (7.80), and Aspyn Schroeder (7.45).
In the all-around competition, Aubry Williams finished with a 28.60. Addison Cuka posted a 30.30 to place seventh overall. Dusti Laska scored a 26.60, Amelia Rathgeber a 27.10, Emma McNinch a 29.95, and Aspyn Schroeder a 26.00.
As a team, Wagner Bon Homme finished with a score of 119.10, while PEH totaled 140.00.
The gymnastics team will be back in action in Chamberlain on January 3 beginning at noon, followed by a full team competition in Chamberlain on January 5 starting at 5 p.m. Community members are encouraged to come out and support these young athletes as they continue to work toward their personal and team goals.
