WAGNER BON HOMME GYMNASTS GAIN VALUABLE EXPERIENCE AT VERMILLION

The Wagner Bon Homme gymnastics team returned to competition Thursday, December 18, at a dual against Vermillion after practicing for more than a month without a meet.

With two competitions previously canceled, the opportunity to compete and receive judges’ feedback was a welcome one for the Lady Gymnasts. The team continues to put in hard work on each event as they focus on gaining new skills and improving connections.

On varsity bars, Aubry Williams scored a 5.55, while Addison Cuka earned a 6.55 to place third. Dusti Laska posted a 4.15, Amelia Rathgeber a 4.55, Emma McNinch a 5.75 to place fifth, and Aspyn Schroeder a 6.00 to finish fourth.

Junior varsity bar scores included Eva Freidel (2.00), Emeri Freidel (3.40, third place), and Lauren Von Eschen (2.85).

Varsity beam results saw strong performances from Dusti Laska, who scored a 7.85 to place second. Aubry Williams added a 6.55, Addison Cuka scored a 6.70 to place fifth, Amelia Rathgeber posted a 6.20, Emma McNinch scored a 6.90 to finish fourth, and Aspyn Schroeder recorded a 5.75.

In junior varsity beam competition, Julia Krug won the event with a 6.10. Eva Freidel scored a 5.35 to place third, Emeri Freidel earned a 4.55 for fifth, while Sophie Jensen and Kamryn Krueger each scored a 4.90 to tie for sixth.

On the floor exercise, varsity gymnasts were led by Aubry Williams, who scored an 8.70 to place third. Addison Cuka followed closely with an 8.30 for second place. Dusti Laska scored a 7.75 to finish fourth, Amelia Rathgeber added a 7.45, Emma McNinch scored a 6.95, and Aspyn Schroeder posted a 6.15.

Junior varsity floor results included Julia Krug with a 5.95 to place second, Sophie Jensen scoring a 5.60 for third, Lauren Von Eschen with a 5.00, Eva Freidel with a 4.80, and Emeri Freidel scoring a 4.55.

On vault, varsity highlights included Dusti Laska’s 8.50, which earned second place. Aubry Williams scored a 7.70 to place fourth, Emma McNinch added a 7.60 for fifth, Aspyn Schroeder scored a 7.50, Addison Cuka posted a 7.40, and Amelia Rathgeber finished with a 6.90.

Junior varsity vault scores were led by Julia Krug with a 7.15 for second place. Eva Freidel earned a 6.60 to place third, while Emeri Freidel scored a 6.25.

In the varsity all-around, Aubry Williams placed third with a score of 28.50. Dusti Laska followed with a 28.25 to place fourth, and Emma McNinch scored a 27.90 for fifth. Addison Cuka finished with a 27.80, Aspyn Schroeder posted a 25.70, and Amelia Rathgeber scored a 24.35.

Junior varsity all-around scores included Eva Freidel with an 18.15 and Emeri Freidel with a 19.75 to place third.

As a team, Wagner Bon Homme finished just behind Vermillion in a tightly contested dual, scoring 114.40 compared to Vermillion’s 114.90. The junior varsity team did not record a team score due to not having four competitors on bars.

The Lady Gymnasts will continue working toward their individual and team goals as the season progresses.
