If you were lucky enough to attend the match up between the Andes Central-Dakota Christian Thunder and the Burke Cougars Thursday night then you were witness to a hard fought battle between these two teams. Burke ended the first quarter with the lead 9-2 but the AD/DC Lady Thunder fought back and closed the second quarter with an 21-12 lead. Excitement continued as the buzzer sounded ending the third quarter with the teams in a tie at 23 each. Both team battled hard in the fourth quarter and as the buzzer rang some last minute hard work found the teams tied again at 34 each which sent them into over-time. After the first 4-minute overtime the teams came out tied again 42-42, to send them to a second overtime where the Thunder struggled on the board and ended the evening with a very tough loss 44-51. Mackenzie Muckey was the lead contributor offensively with 20 points. The 5-foot 9 junior grabbed 14 rebounds with 3 assists. Isabel Pheifer scored 10 points. The 5-foot 10 senior grabbed 13 rebounds. Lexie VanderPol scored 7 points. The 6-foot 1 sophomore grabbed 11 rebounds and 3 steals. The Thunder team shot 26% from the field sinking 12 of 47 and was 55% from the charity stripe with 17 of 31. The team had 48 rebounds but gave up 26 turnovers ending the game with a season record 3-3.
