EPHESIANS 6: 17,18
17) "And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God:
18) Praying always with prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching there unto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." (KJV)
Praying in the Spirit---getting alone with God--no interruptions----nothing to take your mind off of God and what you are praying for.
MATTHEW 6:5,6
5)"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward"(KJV) People noticing them )
6) " But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut the door. (Your private place with God) Pray to the Father which is in secret ( not openly for everyone to hear) and the Father which is seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."(KJV)
The heathen or hypocrites like to brag about how spiritual they are by speaking out loud for others to see and hear how spiritual they think they are. Well our scripture tells us that the only reward they will receive for their outward actions is how much those listening to them will give them. The scripture in verse 5 "they have their reward". Basically--that is all they will get.
But on the other hand, we are instructed to go into a closet--Simply into or at some place alone with no audience and pray quietly unto the Lord. The scripture says, "The Father which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly"
God not only hears your prayers--spoken in your secret place, but He sees you praying. And He rewards you openly. He answers your prayers.--That is your reward for secret prayers--You will know when God answers your prayers.
That's the right way to pray.
You do want your prayers answered don't you?
