Raiders Rally Late but Fall Just Short in Hard-Fought Varsity Loss to Mobridge-Pollock
The Wagner boys varsity team showed a lot of resiliency on Tuesday afternoon. They played a very talented Mobridge-Pollock team and battled for 4 quarters. The boys trailed 13-10 after the first period and 36-25 at half time. Mobridge-Pollock built a sizeable lead two times in the second half only to see Wagner come back and cut the deficit to two points. Wagner was down 16 in late in the third period and had the lead down to 1 with the ball in the final seconds. The Raiders could not tie or get the lead and lost the game 63-66. Jesse Zephier led the team with 21 points, he also had 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Ky Arpan scored 18 points, he also had 10 rebounds, Carlos Galindo scored 18 points, Carlos also had 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Michael Koupal scored 5 points, and Payne Petry scored 1 point.
Early Deficit Costs Wagner JV in Close Contest Against Mobridge-Pollock The JV boys team played a close game with Mobridge-Pollock over the holiday break. The Wagner boys fell behind early and could not close the gap on the Tigers. Wagner was down 18-13 at half time and lost the game 36-32. Jackson Woods led the team with 10 points, Colton Zephier scored 6, Damien Red Lightning and Payne Petry each scored 5, Gannon Shields, Avery Medicine Bear and AJ Kotab each scored 2 points.
Strong Second and Third Quarters Power Wagner C Team to Convincing Win Over Mobridge-Pollock
The Wagner C team played Mobridge Pollock on Tuesday December 30th. The game was low scoring the in the first quarter, Wagner trailed 6-3. The Raiders outscored the Tigers 9-3 in the second quarter and took a 12-9 lead into halftime. Wagner held their opponent scoreless in the third period and took a commanding 25-9 lead into the final frame. The Raiders held on to win the game by a final score of 33-12. Bailer Lhotak led the balanced scoring for Wagner, he finished with 9 points, Kameron Chrans scored 5, Ryan Gullickson added 3 and Russell Standing Cloud, Jacob Kotab, Conner Gabel, Ehtan Gabel and Alex Reiter all scored 2 points.

Dominant Second Half Propels Raiders Past Avon in LMVC Conference Win The Wagner boys played Avon at home on Saturday afternoon in a LMVC Conference Contest. The score was tied 17-17 after the first period, Wagner led 30-27 at the half. The Raiders outscored Avon 42-26 in the second half and won the game 72-53. Ky Arpan scored a game high 25 points, he also had 9 rebounds. Carlos Galindo scored 20 points had 7 rebounds, and 4 steals. Jesse Zephier scored 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Michael Koupal scored 5points and had 7 rebounds, Leon Fields scored 3 points, Payne Petry and Kameron Chrans each scored 2 points. Wagner is now 3-1 and will be back in action Tuesday night against Ethan at home.
Fourth-Quarter Rally Lifts Wagner JV to Comeback Win Over Avon
The Wagner JV team had a big 4th quarter which secured a win for them over the Avon Pirates Saturday afternoon in Wagner. The Raiders were behind the entire game before they outscored Avon 15-4 in the final period and won the game 43-37. Coltn Zephier led the team with 15 points, Ron Knudsen, Jackson Woods and Avery Medicine Bear each scored 6, Payne Petry scored 5, Gannon Shields added 3 and Kameron Chrans scored 2. The JV record is now 2-2.
