RAIDERS RALLY PAST MVP TO OPEN SEASON 1–0

The Wagner varsity boys basketball team opened the season with a hard-fought 62–46 victory over MVP on Tuesday night.

The Raiders overcame an early deficit after MVP jumped out to a 13–6 lead in the first quarter. Wagner responded with a 9–2 run to close the period and tie the game at 15–15.

Wagner took control in the second quarter behind Jesse Zephier, who scored 10 points in the period to give the Raiders the lead for good. Wagner maintained its momentum in the second half to secure the season-opening win.

Zephier led all scorers with 25 points and added three assists. Michael Koupal recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Ky Arpan also scored 12 points and pulled down four rebounds. Carlos Galindo filled the stat sheet with six points, seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals.

Leon Field scored three points. Jackson Woods added two, while Colton Zephier and Avery Medicine Bear each finished with one point.

Slow Start Costs Wagner JV Against MVP

The Wagner JV boys basketball team hosted MVP on Tuesday night but struggled to find offense early, falling 34–20.

The Raiders had difficulty scoring in the first half and trailed 18–2 at halftime. Wagner showed improvement offensively in the second half but was unable to overcome the early deficit.

Jackson Woods led the Raiders with 11 points. Colton Zephier added three points, while AJ Kotab, Avery Medicine Bear, and Ron Knudsen each scored two. Wagner finished 2-of-6 from the free-throw line in the loss.

Strong Start Lifts Wagner C Team Past MVP

The Wagner C team opened the season with a win Tuesday night, defeating MVP by a score of 29–23.

Wagner jumped out to an early lead, going up 14–5 after the first period and holding an 18–13 advantage at halftime. The Raiders continued their steady play in the second half, outscoring MVP 11–10 to secure the victory.

Russel Standing Cloud led the Raiders with seven points, while Ron Knudsen added six. Jackson Woods and Ryan Gullickson each scored five points, and Jacob Kotab finished with two.

RAIDERS USE BIG RUN TO DEFEAT TDA

The Wagner varsity boys basketball team overcame early struggles and foul trouble to defeat the TDA Nighthawks Thursday night.

Wagner trailed 24–14 midway through the second quarter when a Carlos Galindo steal and layup ignited a decisive 21–0 scoring run. The run spanned the final minutes of the second quarter and the opening portion of the third quarter, turning the momentum firmly in Wagner’s favor. By the time TDA broke the streak, the Raiders had taken a 35–26 lead.

Wagner continued to outplay the Nighthawks in the second half, building a lead that grew to 20 points.

Ky Arpan led the Raiders with 20 points and seven rebounds. Carlos Galindo added 13 points, four assists, and three steals. Jesse Zephier finished with 11 points, six rebounds, two steals, and two assists. Jackson Woods scored six points, Michael Koupal added four points and seven rebounds, Javian Pesicka scored five, Colton Zephier had three, and Leon Fields chipped in two.

The Raiders will return to action Tuesday, December 30, at 3 p.m. when they take on Mobridge-Pollock.

Wagner JV Picks Up First Win in Thriller

The Wagner JV boys basketball team picked up its first win of the season Thursday night, edging TDA 42–40 in an exciting contest.

The Raiders trailed 11–7 after the first quarter but responded with a strong second period, scoring 17 points to take a 21–17 lead into halftime. Wagner held off a late push from TDA down the stretch.

Avery Medicine Bear knocked down clutch free throws late to help secure the victory. Colton Zephier led the Raiders with 12 points, while Medicine Bear added 11. Jackson Woods scored 10 points, AJ Kotab finished with seven, and Payne Petry chipped in two.

Late Push Comes Up Short for Wagner C Team

The Wagner C team played its second game of the season Thursday night, taking on TDA in a closely contested matchup.

The Raiders trailed 16–10 at halftime but kept the game within reach throughout the second half. Wagner continued to battle on both ends of the floor but ultimately fell by a final score of 29–23.

Ryan Gullickson led the Raiders with eight points. Bailer Lhotak, Ronald Knudsen, and Alex Reiter each added four points, while Connor Gabel rounded out the scoring with one.
