The Avon Lady Pirates picked up a solid home-court win over Hanson, defeating the Beavers 49-42 in girls basketball action. Rilyn Thury led the way for Avon with 16 points, while Brielle Voigt and Kaydence Metzger each added 12 to help pace the Lady Pirates’ offense. Metzger was also strong on the boards, pulling down seven rebounds, matching Lexi Vanderlei’s team-high seven rebounds. Vanderlei and Thury each dished out three assists on the night. Defensively, Thury was active with five steals, while Jordyn Voigt contributed three steals to help create scoring opportunities for Avon. As a team, the Lady Pirates shot 34 percent from the field, connecting on 17 of 50 attempts. Avon was effective from beyond the arc, hitting 9 of 22 threepoint shots for 41 percent. The Lady Pirates finished 8 of 28 from two-point range and went 6 of 12 from the free-throw line. Avon committed 15 turnovers in the win.
