Jasmine Ruelas-Hertz defeated number-one rated Olivia Anderson (Watertown) in the championship match at 120 pounds by fall in 5:36 in a back-and-forth match. After her four wins on the day all by fall over Imena Metzger (West Lyon) in 1:17, over Nevaeh Peters (Sturgis) in 1:28, and in the semi-finals over Brooke Warejcka (Canton) in 1:51, the BHSA Junior was named Outstanding Wrestler by the coaches. Three other BHSA wrestlers placed in the "Battle for the Paddle" tournament: Sydney Johnson-115 won by fall over Ella Jean Kooiker (Boyden Hull/Rock Valley) in 2:57, lost to Frankie Kranz (Mitchell) 7-2, won by fall over Aurora Hammer (Sioux Falls Lincoln) in 3:20, lost to Avalynne Gemberling (Hinton) by fall in 2:02, and lost to Dayuani Long (Sioux Falls Washington) by tech. fall in 4:33 to place eighth. Hadlee Kracht-130 won by tech. fall over Mohrgan Werdel (Miller/HighmoreHarold) in 1:42, won by fall over Madelyn Jensen (Eagan) in 1:49, lost to Cateri Yellow Hawk (Sully Buttes) 11-0, lost to Olivia Kolbrek (Sioux Falls Washington) by fall in 4:14, and lost to Malia McHugh (Hinton) by fall in 2:57 to finish sixth. Hope Kemnitz went 4-2 on the day winning by fall in :57 over Tayla Schiltz (Harrisburg), lost by fall to Emma DeJong (Boyden Hull/ Rock Valley) in :21, won by fall over Sophia Webb (Sioux Falls Lincoln) in :14, won over Maria Ronquillo (Boyden Hull/Rock Valley) by fall in 2:26, lost to Natalia Long (Canton) by fall in 2:53, and won by fall over Murielle Hagen (Sturgis) in 1:54 to place fifth. Tatum Palsma-100 lost by tech. fall to Surianna Walker (Sioux Falls Washington) in 2:57, won over Zara Himanga (Beresford/Alcester-Hudson) in :46, won by forfeit over Finley Dyck (Sioux Falls Lincoln) and lost to Elouise Snook (Eagan) 6-3. Harper Kracht-125 lost to Crystal Westall (Harrisburg) by disqualification (no mouth guard), and lost to Lily Glodt (Sturgis) by fall in 2:36. Host Canton easily won their tour nament with 258.5 points, followed by Sturgis-165.5, Hinton , Iowa-163, Watertown-158, Rapid City Central-149.5, Brandon Valley - 117, Eagan, Minnesota -108 , Spear fish-88.5, Boyden Hull/Rock Valley, Iowa88, MOC-Floyd, Iowa-82.5, Harrisburg-79, and Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon-72.5 to finish twelfth out of the 29 teams. Coach's Comments: With 220 wrestlers, this tournament had quantity and quality competition. Congratulations to Jasmine on her championship and being named the outstanding wrestler.
