The Older Adult Resource Network (OARN), a program of LSS of South Dakota serving Douglas, Charles Mix, Hutchinson, and Bon Homme counties, invites area older adults (ages 55 and up) and their caregivers to one of three free movie showings this November. Individuals will receive free admission to the movie, pop, and popcorn. The events are: November 16, 7 p.m. Lorain Theatre, 714 Main St., Armour The Running Man, Rated R. In the near-future, “The Running Man” is the top-rated show on television, a deadly competition where contestants must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins. November 24 6–7 p.m. Resource Fair 7 p.m. Movie Wagner Theater 218 S. Main Ave., Wagner Soul on Fire, Rated PG. A tragic accident leaves 9-yearold John O’Leary with burns covering 100% of his body. He soon embarks on a miraculous road to recovery with support from family, the community and baseball announcer Jack Buck. Grateful for the gift of life, John becomes a motivational speaker who inspires millions of people to make the world a better place. November 29, 2 p.m. Lyric Theater 521 Main St., Platte Sarah’s Oil, Rated PG. In the early 1900s, young Sarah Rector believes there’s oil beneath the barren land she’s allotted in Indian Territory. As greedy sharks close in, Sarah turns to family, friends and some Texas wildcatters to maintain control of her oil-rich land, eventually becoming one of the first female African American millionaires. The event on November 24 will feature a Resource Fair, with a variety of businesses and organizations serving older adults. Please plan to visit that from 6–7 p.m. “We wanted to do something to show appreciation for older adults as well as for those family caregivers who support them,” said Jacque Johnson, LSS OARN Coordinator. “We also want an opportunity for people who have not yet accessed our services to learn a little bit more about what we do.” Space will be limited to the theater capacities for the events.
