After two consecutive years of finishing seventh at state, the BHSA girls finally reached the podium in 2025 finishing in fifth place. Gone from that team are five-time state champion Peyton Hellmann (wrestling at Fort Hays State in Hays, Kansas, 45-0 last year, and a 192-9 career record), and two-time state placewinner (8th and 5th) Ashley Tolsma (National Guard, 38-16 last year).
Head coach is Darren Kriz, and assistants are Ben Hellmann, Jim Kocer, Wes Kloucek, Alex Caba, Shane Sutera, Dom Pechous, and Jeremiah Horstman. Returning wrestlers are: Senior Britney Rueb—three-time state champion, one-time state runner-up, injured mid-season last year. Senior Hope Kemnitz—8th place at state at 185 (24-22). Junior Jasmine Ruelas-Hertz—4th at state at 114 (39-15) Junior Hadlee Kracht—4th at state at 126 (53-16) Other wrestlers are Sophomore Bailey Kemnitz (33-22); 8th graders state qualifiers Sydney Johnson (107) and Harper Kracht (120); 7th graders Charlie Faehnrich and Tatum Palsma.` Three sixth graders are practicing and competing in middle school tournaments: Peyton Runyon, Elle Bult, and Olivia Pechous. With Britney and Hope providing senior leadership and six wrestlers with state tournament experience, the BHSA girls are looking forward to the upcoming season.
