Ladies! If you want to bake good bread, have your husbands buy Eaco Wing flour at the Burbeck Elevator Company.

Ted Steckler has purchased the Star Pool Hall from R. Sawyer and will take possession at once.

H.A. Unruh arrived in Avon and reports he will prove up on his claim in Dupree in July. He will come back to Avon and occupy his studio.

John H. Fathke has the finest potato patch in the country with mammoth vines. He expects to dig his potatoes with a pick and crow bar.

Herman Lorenz ran his car off the road near Ed Fathke's place.

86 Years Ago - July 1936

Plans were made for the big July 3-4 celebration.

Caterpillars and grass hoppers are in an abundance cleaning up gardens and crops.

The Avon Kittenball team beat Delmont 802. The Avon batteries were Bertus and Buchholz.

The Avon Talkie is showing, "The Sagebrush Troubadour" starring Smiley Burnette.

Mrs. Bill Kramer was hostess to the Thimble Club.

A baby daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Van Duysen on June 25th.

57 Years Ago - July 1965

The Mets won two this week beating Tyndall 17-7 and Lesterville 17-12.

The new post office building is open for business.

Danzig Baptist Church had a guest speaker from Japan on Sunday.

Specials from Robbies IGA: Jello 3 for 25 cents. Half gallon of ice cream - 49 cents; Ground beef - 2 pounds for 89 cents.

35 Years Ago - July 1987

The Mets lost 2 games by big scores. Hurling for Avon were Don Voigt, Gerald Wynia, G. Gramm and Paul Voigt in a big loss to Lesterville 25-10. Freeman also won 15-5 with Kelly Brandt and Wynia pitching.

A Pudwill reunion was held on June 27th.

The Avon Legion beat Lesterville 15-9. Brad Roth did the pitching. Hitters were Randy Mount, Don Mudder and Scott Brandt.

The Pee Wees beat Scotland 14-2. Hitters were Terry Becker, Travis Rauch and Robby Voigt.

The Midgets won 10-0. Brad Cameron had 3 hits with a home run. Matt Eggers pitched a super game.
