Avon’s 18U softball team traveled to Scotland on Sunday, June 5 for a doubleheader as part of Scotland Sports Day. In game one Avon unleashed the bats for 11 hits scoring runs in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th innings. Avon was led by Lydia Yost with 3 hits – including a double and 2 RBI. Katie Gretschmann, Sam Brodeen, and Reece Loewe each had 2 hits; with Brodeen and Loewe both having a double and 3 RBI. Emma Yost had a hit and a RBI and Kinley Doom singled in the game. Lydia Yost pitched for Avon, struck out 8, walked 2, and got the win.

In game 2 it was Scotland who unleashed the bats while Avon had a difficult time getting things going. Avon had 3 errors early in the contest. For Avon, Brodeen and Lydia Yost each had a hit. Loewe pitched for Avon.
