Monday, June 27 Avon’s 18U Softball Team traveled to Parkston for a double header. Parkston scored 3 in the third while Avon managed to get a run across in the sixth but it wasn’t enough as Parkston won 3-1. Sam Brodeen, Reece Loewe, Lydia Yost, and Emma Yost each singled in the game. Lydia Yost pitched for Avon, striking out 5.

In game 2 Parkston was able to get out to an early lead and would not surrender it to Avon. At the plate Avon was led by Ashley Tolsma who singled. On the mound Kinley Doom started for Avon and was relieved by Loewe.

Wednesday, June 29 Avon hosted Mitchell Aftershock for a doubleheader in the regular season finale. In game 1 Mitchell scored 5 runs in the top of the first but Avon was able to battle back, eventually losing in extra-innings. Avon was led by Lydia Yost and Karlie DeVries each with 2 hits. Lydia Yost had a triple and Emma Yost homered. Also with hits were Tolsma and Courtney Sees. Lydia Yost pitched a complete game, striking out 8.

In game 2 Mitchell took advantage of 5 Avon errors on their way to a 15-3 victory. For Avon, Emma Yost had 2 hits, including a homerun. Reece Loewe also had a hit in the game.
