Avon’s 18U softball team kicked off its season hosting Tyndall on Wednesday, June 1. In game 1 Tyndall jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. Avon was able to tie the game in the bottom of the 5th but Tyndall sealed it with runs in the 6th. For Avon, Lydia Yost and Macy Voigt led the way with 2 hits apiece. Reece Loewe had a hit, a walk, and scored a run. Sam Brodeen added a RBI. On the mound Yost threw a complete game, giving up 4 hits, 2 earned runs, striking out 9 and walking 3.

In game 2 Tyndall got out to an early lead and didn’t look back defeating Avon 17-3. For Avon, Emma Yost had 2 hits and a RBI. Brielle Voigt had a hit and scored a run. Loewe had a double with 2 RBI and a run scored. Loewe and Kinley Doom pitched for Avon, recording 3 strikeouts against Tyndall.
