ANDES CENTRAL PARTICIPATES IN READ FOR THE RECORD
Brenda Dehaan
In an attempt to break the world record for the most people reading the same book on the same day, 121 Andes Central students and staff read Maybe Something Beautiful by F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell and illustrated by Rafael López. The book was based on a true story in San Diego. This 13th annual reading event was held on October 25. The book was available online for a limited time, so students were able to read together on the Promethean Board or individually on a computer.
Numbers are still being tallied by Jumpstart, the sponsor of the reading challenge. The current world reading record was set in 2013 with 2,462,860 reading the same book, according to Jump-start.
