Am. Leg. Auxiliary to Greer Post #11
Greer Unit #11 American Legion met October 18 at the Post Home with 13 members present. The meeting was called to order by President Juanita Stone. Chaplain Kathy Geiman opened with prayer from the Legionette. The Pledge of Allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble were recited in unison.
Secretary Barb Kucera read the minutes of the previous meetingandtheywereapproved as read. Linda Youngbluth read the treasurers report and they were approved.
District President Janice Coleman gave her report. She spoke on a Christmas Tree ornament that each unti should make for a tree at the Capital during the Christmas season, for the American Legions 100th anniversary. This ornament shouldbeinPierrebyNovember
15. The decorating of the tree will take place November 17 at 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and help decorate the tree.
Membership chairman Norma Horner report 56 members paid.
Community Service chairman Margie Stone reported appropriate cards had been sent.
Unfinished business: Linda Youngbluth reported on the cancer rummage, she needed works for Friday and that the men had ham left over which will be used for lunch on Friday. We received a thank you from Susie Clyde for our donation of gifts to the Hot Springs VA. Linda Youngbluth purchased the gifts and took them there. Our donation was $166.35.The National Guard asked the Legion and Auxiliary to sponsor a queen candidate. We will try and ask one.
New business: Delores Kotab made a motion to have Linda Younbluth buy $200 worth of stamps since they were going up. Motion was approved. The school is having a Veteran's Day Program on November 12 so we should wear our vests and white shirts. Education Week is the 12th to the 16th. We will take cookiestotheschool.Volunteers to make the cookies were Margie S., Juanita S., Marlene S., Barb W., Sandy S. We will do bingo at the Human Services Center on November15atYankton,needto be there by 12:45 p.m. Linda and Jay will be leaving the Post Home at 11:30 a.m., if you need a ride meet them there. Delores Kotab made a motion we help support the present and future youth and adults of our community by donating $500 to the Wagner Swimming Pool building and replacement fund. Linda Youngbluth suggested we use the raffle money for this.
As there was no further business to come before the meeting, Chaplain Kathy Geiman read the Prayer for Peace. President Juanita Stone adjourned the meeting.
