The Bon Homme County Child Protection (CP) Team meets throughout the school year to identify needs of families in the county and to find creative ways to provide for those needs. The CP team includes volunteer representatives from each school district (administrators, school counselors, and school psychologist), Lewis and Clark Behavioral Health therapists, county legal/law enforcement, and area social serviceagencies.Wecollaborateonwaystoraise funds as needs arise in Bon Homme County, including the communities of Avon, Scotland, Springfield, Tabor, and Tyndall. As we meet, we are able to coordinate referrals for mental health counseling and family support. Our referrals come from school officials, law enforcement, teachers, and from family members who reach out for assistance.
Child Protection has provided tangible resources to schools and families. Examples of projects the team has funded include
• clothing including pants, socks, etc. for elementary school offices in Avon, Scotland, Springfield, and Tyndall
• winter weather gear for families or schools
• Christmas trees and decorations
• holiday meals funded through financial donations from community members
• furniture for families moving into adequate housing
• summer pool passes The CP team appreciates all who have contributed to these causes, especially the Tyndall and Springfield City Councils and The Bargain Shoppe who have partnered with CP over the past few years to provide family pool passes and clothing. It is with the support of our communities that we are able to help families meet their needs for safety, security, and enriching family activities. The students and families in Bon Homme County benefit directly from the CP team’s fundraising efforts and organization of donations from generous businesses and individuals. 100% of donations to CP flow right back into the community.
