Jessica Blaha was named Labor Day Queen. . Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides rides were an enjoyable novelty that year. Commercial State Bank and First Dakota National Bank sponsored this amazing treat. From WBS Sponsored Hoop Shoot to the Demolition Derby so many events for Labor Day and so little time.

30 Years Ago - 1989

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Ven Osdel of Springfield. Governor George Mickelson was present for the Labor Day Celebration. Tonia Isebrands was chosen as Labor Day Queen. Ione Bertch was honorary parade marshal at the Labor Day parade.

Nancy Denker and Robert Horner attended the Co-op Youth Leadership Conference held at Jewell College, Liberty, MO. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Adams.

Ray E. Novak entered Church Army training at Parishfield, Brighton, MI. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Rovert Moffatt.

Twenty farmers entered the hog calling contest held Labor Day. Wesley Metz won first prize and got his choice of the best pair of shoes in town. Harold Ramsdell won 2nd place and received a sack of flour. Someone stole Albert Soukups Ford touring car. Ernest Patton lost his Buick in a fire.
