The Wagner Rotary Club was called to order on Wednesday, September 25th by President Bill Frei. President Frei said a short mealtime prayer in the absence of our two Pastors. There were no guests present.

Ken Cotton gave the membership minute, which was about the history of the Rotary Foundation. In 1917, President Arch Klumph told delegates at the Atlanta convention that it seemed "eminently proper" to begin accepting endowments. The first contribution was for $26.50 from the Rotary Club of Kansas City, Missouri. After 6 years, the fund balance was only $700. In 1928, the Rotary Foundation was officially established. After the death of Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary, memorial donations poured in. From those small beginnings, the Rotary Foundation now receives more than $65 million each year to fund humanitarian and educational work around the world.

The songs, chosen by President Frei, were "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" and "Smile".

Laura Wright's lucky number was chosen to take a shot at the Queen of Hearts, but she drew the 7 of hearts.

$50 Football book winners this week were Brandon Frei and Jordan Weber.

Secretary Treasurer Patty Frei noted that there were 3 misses for Pastor Bill's team and 5 misses for Pastor Laurie's team. This is the last week of the quarter, and the totals, pending makeups, is 15 misses for Pastor Bill's team, and 16 misses for Pastor Laurie's team. $14 was collected this week for the Queen of Hearts, bringing the total to $916.

Program Chairman Bill Frei introduced his guest, head football coach of the Wagner Red Raiders, Jeff Podzimek. Jeff was born and raised in Wagner, and has recently moved back to work on the family farm. Jeff brings with him many years of coaching experience from across the country. He spoke to the club about the great group of players who have had a tough first half of the season. The first 4 games were against 4 of the 5 top teams in the state. There are 29 varsity players this year, and 40-45 junior high players. This Friday, Wagner travels to Stanley County.

We adjourned in our usual fashion by singing "America" with the spotlight on our American Flag.

Sergeant at Arms Becky Brunsing gave out the following fines:

• $1 to Jeff Doom and Francis Doom for being in Canada this week.

• $1 to Bryan Slaba and Gerrit Juffer for being in Europe this week.
