WAGNER TRAVELS TO O'NEILL

The Lady Raiders traveled to O’Neill to take on the Eagles last Tuesday in girls basketball action. Wagner would put together an impressive first half taking a 30-18 lead into the locker room. The second half would be a huge turn of events. O’Neill would come out of the half with some major aggression. They would out score Wagner 35-16 in the second half. Rebounding would plague the Raiders as they would give up 17 offensive boards and get out rebounded 33-31. Wagner would out shoot percentage wise the Eagles shooting 39% compared to the Eagles 30%. Wagner would turn it over 18 times compared to 6 from the Eagles. O’Neill would shoot 70 times compared to Wagner’s 43. Ashlyn Koupal would record a double- double with 18 points and 10 boards, block 4 shots and dish out 3 assists. Lydia Yost would again stack the stat sheet with 12 points, 8 boards, 9 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals. Braxton Nedved would finish with 9 points and 2 assists. Hayden Knudsen would finish with 5 points, 6 boards, and 3 assists. Ravym Medricky would finish with 1 point and 4 boards. Mateya Bruguier would also add a point for the Red Raiders. N“This was a tale of two halves for us. We got stops and transition and we only gave up 5 offensive boards the first half. Defensively we really did a great job on them. The other 12 offensive boards all came in the 3rd quarter where they just bullied us and we couldn’t get a box out. In the 4th we tried to bring some pressure and they didn’t miss a shot where we couldn’t buy a bucket. We didn’t get any transition looks in the second half from a miss on their end. We have to be read to play at all times and can’t be satisfied until games are over.”
