The Wagner Volleyball team traveled to face the Gregory Spikers on Thursday, September 12th. The Lady Red Raiders put up a good fight but fell short in the 5th set. Scores of the match were 23-25, 20-25, 25-12, 25-23 and 7-15.
Hannah Holzbauer led all attackers with 16 kills while Ravyn Medricky added 11 and Braxton Nedved had 7. Nedved distributed the ball 24 times in the match. Behind the service line Nedved racked up 12 points/2 aces, Holzbauer tallied 11 points/9 aces, Brylie Link added 7 points/3 aces, and Kotab had 7 points/1 ace. Kotab led the defense picking up 20 digs, Medricky added 17 while Holzbauer and Nedved had 13 and 11 on the night. Up at the net Medricky put up 3 stops and Brianna Fuchs had 2.
The JV battled and came up with a big win with scores of 26-24 and 26-24. It was a well-balanced attack at the net as Mila Hopkins, Mateya Bruguier, Ashtyn Bruguier, and Brianna Fuchs all earned 3 kills. Setters Kylin Insko and M. Hopkins dished out the ball earning 8 and 4 assists in the match. Insko earned 9 points while Adara Hopkins added 6 points/1 ace and Fuchs had 3 points/1 ace. Libero Hayden Knudsen scrapped for 9 digs and M. Hopkins had 4.
The C team lost in two sets with scores of 16-25 and 16-25. Taelyn Knebel and Camry Link each earned 2 kills in the match. Link and Bella Kotab earned 4 and 2 assists. Ty’Shay Medicine Bear led behind the service line with 5 points/2 aces, Knebel added 4 points, Kendra Van Duysen had 4 points/1 ace, and Tegan Langdeaux had 2 points/2 aces. Van Duysen picked up 11 digs while Link added 8 and Izzy Myer had 4.
