Wagner Community School welcomed Kelly Cimpl as the new school prevention nurse/temporary HS counselor for the 20242025 school year. Before taking this position with the school, Kelly had been working as a Community Health Nurse for the past 11 years. When asked why she wanted to become a part of the WCS team, she said that she loved having the opportunity to work with both the students and staff. WCS offers a great work environment and atmosphere for its employees.

As the school prevention nurse, Kelly will be teaching health prevention topics to students. With the ever-changing world that students live in as well as their busy lives, it can be a confusing time in their lives. Kelly hopes to be able to help the students make good decisions by providing them with information and tools that will set them up to be able to make the right choices for their lives. Kelly is also temporarily stepping into the High School Counselor position as Jennifer Lhotak is now deployed. Kelly wants the students to know that there is still someone available that is more than willing to and happy to listen. A goal for Kelly in her role as the school’s prevention nurse is to reach at least one student every nine weeks that will really take in the information that Kelly will be presenting and use it to make better life choices. Kelly is married to her husband, Dan. The couple have three grown and married children and have been blessed with nine grandchildren. In her free time, Kelly enjoys working outside, especially in her garden, likes to read, spend time with her family and attend sporting events. As a Wagner resident that was born and raised here, Kelly is very active in the community. She is a part of Communities That Care, Wagner Area Health and Wellness Consortium, Child Protection Team and Call to Freedom. One item on Kelly’s bucket list would be to go skydiving.
