The Lady Raiders traveled to Platte to take on the Platte-Geddes Black Panthers last Friday in girls basketball action. The Raiders would jump all over the Panther’s the first quarter taking a 22-3 lead after the first quarter and then a 37-12 lead into the half. Wagner would out-score the Panthers 29-15 in the second half and claim the 66-27 win. With this victory Wagner would stake claim for the 4th consecutive year as the SESD champs. Wagner would convert on 28-58 for 48% while the Panthers would go 11-34 for 32%. Wagner would control the glass with a 32-21 advantage and only commit 11 turnovers compared to 23 by Platte-Geddes. Ashlyn Koupal would lead all scorers with 28 points, 15 boards, 5 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. Lydia Yost would follow that up with 19 points, 6 boards, 5 steals, 3 assists, and 2 blocks. Braxton Nedved would add 8 points, 5 assists, and 3 boards. Hayden Knudsen would chip in 6 points, 3 boards, and 2 assists. Mila Hopkins and Katrina Zephier would each add 2 points while Brooklin Nielsen would round out the scoring with 1 point. “The girls came out ready to play again tonight. Offensively we switched a lot of stuff up possession after possession and defensively we did a great job again in the half court. We did a nice job in transition and had some really great passing out of our high low action. Now we move onto the post-season where records don’t mean a thing! We have to be locked in and ready to play night in and night out from this point on! Congratulations Ladies on a great regular season but there is still work to be done!”

The JV team would find themselves trailing at half 9-12 but would out score the Panther’s 24 to 12 in the second half and come away with a 3324 victory. Mateya Bruguier would finish with a game high 14 points. Olivia Podzimek would finish with 5 points while Brooklin Nielsen and Mila Hopkins would each finish with 4 points. Peytyn Wiechmann would finish with 3 points and Katrina Zephier 2. The JV would end the season with a 9-11 record with 5 of those losses being 5 points or less.

The C-team would complete the sweep of the evening with a 24-22 victory in triple overtime. Peytyn Wiechmann would lead the Raiders with 8 points. Clarah Soukup would finish with 7 points. Camry Link would net 5 points and TyShay Medicine Bear would finish with 4 points. The C team which consisted of all our 7th and 8th graders, made huge improvements the past 3 months after their JH season. The C-team would end the year with a 5-3 record. These young ladies usually competed against Freshman and Sophomores as most of their games were with bigger schools. We are very excited to see what another offseason will do for all our JV and C team players.
