The wrestling season has come to an end. Our girls’ wrestling team earned fifth place at the State tournament. Among these girls was Sydney Johnson, who qualified for state as a seventh grader, gaining great experience for the future. Our only freshmen competitor, Bailey Kemnitz, improved this year and is motivated for next season. Hope Kemnitz made state as a 10th seed, and placed 8th on the podium, bringing two bonus point pins. Lastly, Ashley Toulsma hit 50 wins this year, which lead her to a 5th seed, and that is where she placed on the podium. She also got three falls and one tech fall, bringing much needed bonus points for the team.

The boys wrestling team placed 6th overall at the state tournament. Our only boy from Avon who qualified this year was Randall Powers. This was his third year competing at the State Wrestling Tournament. Randall said “The outcome was not what I was hoping for, but I'll be back next year, better than ever!”
