SOFTBALL SEASON KICKS OFF

Wagner Varsity Red Raiders couldn't keep up with Gayville-Volin Varsity Raiders and fell 12-0 on Saturday.

Gayville-Volin Varsity Raiders jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Paisley Dimmer doubled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and an error scored one run.

They added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Tanayia Pacheco walked, and , each scoring one run.

Gayville-Volin scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. One run scored on another play, Kendra Beeck-Waterman tripled, scoring one run, Teresa Stockman doubled, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.

Lydia Yost opened the game for Wagner Varsity Red Raiders. The starter surrendered seven hits and 10 runs (five earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking two. Ayla Dimmer led things off in the circle for Gayville-Volin. The right-handed pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out 11 and walking two.

Lydia Yost went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Wagner Red Raiders in hits. Paisley Dimmer went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Teresa Stockman led Gayville-Volin with two hits in three at bats.

STRONG HITTING NOT ENOUGH FOR WAGNER RED RAIDERS

Even though Wagner Varsity Red Raiders collected five hits to Hanson Varsity Beavers 2025's four, they still fell 14-4 on Saturday. Brooklin Nielsen, Libby Kotab, Ravyn Medricky, Lydia Yost, and Mara Wright each collected one hit.

Wagner opened the scoring in the first after Ravyn Medricky singled, scoring two runs.

Hanson flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on one hit to take the lead, 5-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Jacey Schoenrock that drove in two.

Hanson Beavers scored six runs on one hit in the bottom of the third inning. An error scored one run, an error scored three runs, Marah Doyle grounded out, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.

Mara Wright stepped in the circle first for Wagner Varsity Red Raiders. The starter surrendered three hits and 10 runs (one earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking three. Olivia Kayser started in the circle for Hanson. The starter surrendered five hits and four runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out 12 and walking two.

Ravyn Medricky went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Lydia Yost stole two bases. Wagner Red Raiders stole four bases in the game.

Jacey Schoenrock drove the middle of the lineup, leading Hanson with four runs batted in. The number three hitter went 3-for-4 on the day.
