RAIDERS FALL AFTER STRONG SHOWING BY THE LADY QUARRIERS

Wagner Varsity Red Raiders couldn't keep up with Dell Rapids Varsity Lady Quarriers and fell 12-3 to Dell Rapids on Tuesday, May 27th.

Dell Rapids got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Rylee Halverson doubled down the left field line, Kayleigh Gillette doubled down the left field line, Addison Van’t Hof tripled to right field, and Lexi Scherff walked, each scoring one run.

The Lady Quarriers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Lexi Scherff doubled to center field, and Ella Johnson singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Dell Rapids scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. An error scored one run, Elly Olson doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Paige Trewin drew a walk, scoring one run, and a passed ball scored one run.

Lydia Yost pitched five innings in relief for the Raiders. The righty surrendered eight hits and eight runs (four earned) while, striking out five and walking four. Mara Wright opened the game for Wagner. The hurler gave up three hits and four runs (zero earned) over one inning, striking out none and walking one. Katie Kvigne started in the circle for Dell Rapids. The righty gave up three hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out 15 and walking two.

Libby Kotab, Ravyn Medricky, and Shaelee Turner each collected one hit for the Raiders. Ravyn Medricky and Shaelee Turner each drove in one run for Wagner.

The Lady Quarriers piled up 11 hits in the game. Lexi Scherff, Dell Rapids's number seven hitter, led the team with three hits in three at-bats. Addison Van’t Hof went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. The Lady Quarriers had a strong eye at the plate, tallying five walks for the game. Emma Lanpher and Paige Trewin led the team with two walks each.
