June 25, 2025, was President Jordan Weber’s last meeting as President for our Rotary Year. Jordan rang the Rotary bell, and all members stood to recite the Rotary Prayer. There were no guests for the day, so we went right to singing “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” led by Rotarian Gerrit Juffer.
The Membership Minute given by Rotarian Patty Frei was about our Rotary Year. The year runs from July 1 to June 30th of the following year. There are more than 36,000 Rotary clubs and 10,000 Rotaract clubs grouped into approximately 520 districts. These districts are organized into 34 Regional zones. Our Wagner Club is in District 5610 and Zone 29.
A club President leads local clubs. Districts are led by governors, who serve a key role in Rotary, leading a team of assistant governors and district committees in supporting and strengthening clubs and motivating them to conduct service projects. District Governors check in with each Rotary club in the district during the year, oversee new clubs, and plan district conferences and special events.
The Rotary International president presides over the RI Board of Directors and is elected to a one-year term. Francesco Arezzo, a member of the Rotary Club of Ragusa, Italy, has been selected by the Board of Directors to become Rotary International’s president for 2025-26. Arezzo will become president on July 1. Bruce Nearhood will serve a second term as District Governor of District 5610. Jamie Soukup will serve as President of our Wagner Rotary Club from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.
Once again, the Queen of Hearts did not appear when the lucky table had a chance at winning the drawing. The drawing is at a remarkably high amount right now, $445.00. Jerry and Kathe Henke have sixteen misses and eleven misses, respectively. Secretary/ Treasurer Craig Krsnalk called the race and declared the Kathe Henke Team winners! Hooray for the ladies and the lone male on the team, Bill Frei. President Jordan Weber thanked all the club members for all their support and volunteering for projects through his past year as President of the Wagner Club. Jordan was given a round of applause.
Theprogramwasintroduced by Rotarian Jeff Doom who had Rotarian Linda Soukup give a Power Point presentation of pictures of businesses on the East Side of Wagner Main Street back to its beginning in 1900.
Soukup stated that she has completed digitizing all the pictures of business buildings that the museum has right now. She listed the categories of Residences, Citizens, Churches, School, Farming, and Labor Day Parades and asked for guidance as to which group to begin working on. The members decided on residences.
The meeting adjourned with all members reciting The Four-Way Test of the things we think, say, or do: Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL & BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
