Rotarian Jamie Soukup brought the meeting to order for Jordan Weber on Wednesday, June 18th. Guests were Roger Blaha and Allison Woods courtesy of Rotarian Gerrit Juffer. After reciting the Rotary Prayer Rotarian Gerrit led us in singing one verse of “Roll Rotary.”

Rotarian Patty Frei talked about the public image of Rotary for our weekly Membership Minute. Rotary’s public image is what people outside of Rotary think of when they hear our name. But name recognition is just the start. Our public image is shaped by the actions of our members, the activities we engage in, the impact we have, and more. A strong public image promotes trust and encourages people to engage with us. We can help build our public image by sharing stories that show us as people of action and inspire others to get involved. Promoting Rotary to the public can be as simple as wearing your Rotary pin or as elaborate as organizing a marketing campaign. Wagner Rotary participates in several events throughout the year to be a visible focal point for community members by assisting at other organization's events by serving food, drinks, taking tickets, etc.We hope to attract prospective members, instill a sense of pride among our own members, encourage other community members to donate their time and money and this helps our club stand out from other volunteer opportunities. As Rotarians, we are all ambassadors for our brands.

The room tensed up as the deck of cards was laid out before Tim Thaler. Thaler only found the two of Diamonds. The new total to be won is $429.00 The Henke's are still in the clear with their team totals. Kathes team of all women except for Bill Frei has only ten misses while Jerry’s team is up to fifteen misses.

The program for the day was introduced by Gerrit Juffer. He brought Chris and Shelly Saunsoci to the meeting. If you haven’t met them or tasted what they do, you are in for a treat. Juffer was in Lake Andes on business one day and he was looking for a place to have lunch. He stopped at the old VFW building and discovered a treasure of tasty food. The Saunsocis received their food license in 2022 and opened on August 19, 2024. They are “renting to own” the old building and have made improvements and changes as they can. Shelly does all the cooking. She stated that “when I was eight years old my grandma chose me out of our family to become a cook and baker. I make everything from scratch'. Their oldest daughter does help especially with the bartending. They specialize in traditional foods. Their meat and all ingredients are freshly ordered in. They have a smoker for their BBQ meat which is in high demand. There is some room for dining inside with seating for one hundred and they also have a digital menu on display in the restaurant.

Shelly and her husband are open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. six days a week. That is a lot of cooking, and it is all made fresh each day. They are not open on Sundays as they give that day to God. Their address is What the Duck BBQ & Grill, Chris and Shelly Saunsoci, Box 143, Lake Andes, SD, 57356 Phone 605-487-6008 or 605-491-4441
