Pastor Laurie was called upon to pray and she asked for prayers for Rotarian Dave Isebrand and Pastor Bill Heerman who is embarking on a mission trip with some youth from his church.
Guests present were Sydney Juffer who was asked to introduce herself by her father. There was no Membership Minute to be given so President Bill took the opportunity to present Member Laura Wright with her Rotary membership plaque from her recent induction.
Song master for the day was Pastor Laurie and Bill requested that we return to a former practice of singing two songs instead of just one. Bill remembers the day when the club would sing a Rotary Song and a regular song as well. Laurie led the club in Sing Rotarians, Sing! For a common song she picked I’m Looking Over a Four-Leaf Clover.
President Bill announced that the new Sergeant at Arms will be Becky Brunsing. Becky was out of town attending a meeting so her Assistant who is Scott McAdaurgh took over for the first meeting. He was no slouch when it came to handing out fines!
Every who was fined was to pay a $2 fine for:
Francis Doom for getting stuck with his lawn mower and having to be pulled out several times; Jeff Doom for keeping his neighbors up until 2:00 in the morning; Linda Soukup for her granddaughter being on TV for an interview wearing a Budweiser shirt; Becky Brunsing for not attending her first meeting as SAA and putting Scott on the spot; Gerrit for having fun boating on the 4th of July; Michaela for being on the front page of the Announcer again; Bryan Slaba for causing the club to buy mustard all the time; Francis and Jeff for having so much dessert; Jerry Weber for saying he comes to Rotary to eat but has lost some weight; Bill Frei for going out and winning a golf tournament; Craig Krsnak for having his jet skis loaded on his pickup at work. Happy Fines of $5.00 were offered by Patty Frei for having a good old family vacation time; Pastor Laurie was happy that the last of the carpeting is being put down in their church remodel; Jeff Doom was happy for having his kids come home for the Fourth and Jerry Weber was delighted that he is going to have another grandchild.
Francis Doom had a chance to draw the Queen of Hearts; but only drew the three of Hearts. Excitement is building as there are only a few cards left in the deck. $19.00 was collected for the day bringing the grand total up to $733.00
Secretary-Treasurer for the coming year is Patty Frei and she reported that she received one makeup from Joe Stedronsky. The new Captains for the Steak Teams are the two pastors in the club, Pastor Laurie Kidd and Pastor Bill Heerman.
They proceeded to draw the Rotarians names out of a bucket in order to determine who is on each team. Patty will send out a list of the two teams to club members.
President Bill also passed out sheets with the various committees and their new members and a list of program assignments for each meeting during the coming year.
The only order of business was to select another Board of Director to serve a 3-year term. Bryan Slaba was nominated and since no other nominations were forthcoming Bryan will be serving on the BOD.
Our Steak meeting will be next Wednesday July 17th.
There will be a picture of the new officers next week.
The club adjourned in its usual fashion with the singing of America.
