Avon football field was filled with red for Avon Homecoming Friday night, even the dogs came to support their Pirates! The first quarter found Aziah Meyer in the end zone scoring 3 touchdowns. The second quarter scoring continued as Landon Mudder ran in for a 2-yard touchdown followed by an 82 yard kickoff return by Meyer to end the first half 38-14. The second half found Mudder with a big 72 yard run for the touchdown and Trent Soukup had a 7-yard run for a touchdown followed by the 2-point conversion to end the game 54-20. Leading rushers were Mudder with 168 yards and 2 touchdowns, Meyer had 160 yards and 4 touchdowns, Greyson Ratzlaff had 38 yards, Soukup had 37 and 1 touchdown. On the defense, Al'Shamon Gunter had 5 tackles, 7 assists and 1 sack; Meyer had 4 tackles and 1 assist, Treyvan Talsma and 4 tackles and 7 assists, Kahle Hill had 2 tackles and 5 assists, Jaydon Driesen had 1 tackle and 2 assists, Dominic Doom had 1 tackle and 1 assist, Randall Powers had 3 assists, Lance Odens and Parker Podzimek each had 1 assist. Meyer had the lone scoring kickoff return on the night for 82 yards, Grayson Ratzlaff had 2 returns on the night for 12 yards. Ratzlaff also had a punt return for 35 yards. Doom had 9 kickoffs for a total of 383 yards with a 58 yard long kickoff. This win brings the Pirates record to 4-0.
