Andes Central Teacher Spotlights
By
Pam Altenburg

Pam Altenburg teaches 6th-8th English Language Arts and was born and raised in Yankton. Pam's love for Language Arts is not just current to her teachings, it has been her favorite subject throughout her days as a student as well. She used that passion for the subject by earning her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Dakota. Pam continued on to receive a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University.

Outside of the classroom in her free time, Pam loves to use her Cricut to make fun items and crafts of all sorts. She is also very involved with her family and loves to spend time with her daughters and their children. She loves being a part of her grandchildren's activities and sports to show her love and support. Family has always been important to Pam as she is the third child of seven children.

A few of her favorite snacks include popcorn, chocolate, and Diet Coke. One of Pam's favorite mottos is, 'Everything happens for a reason. Good or bad.'

Something that brings Pam the most joy at school is arriving early and preparing for the day ahead. She loves taking that extra time before class begins so when her students arrive, she has time to visit with them and greet them as they begin a new fresh day. Giving high fives and seeing their smiling faces with the hope for another great day in their eyes, makes that preparation all the more worth it.
