The local Modern Woodmen of America Youth Service Club helped put on a raffle, raising and donating $1050 to benefit Leon and Dorothy Thaler through the organization’s matching funds program.

Fort Randall Castle Unit #282 Auxiliary held a 40th Anniversary celebration at the Rainbow Room in Pickstown.

The United States Supreme Court will not hear the appeals case by either the Yankton Sioux Tribe or the State of South Dakota on the boundary issue of the Yankton Sioux Reservation.

Michael Howard, who lived on a farm at the north end of Lake Andes for 52 years, passed away. Howard Township was named after him.

W.B. Gillreath topped the Sioux City Livestocks Market with 17 head of cattle weighing 1385 pounds each that sold for $12.75 per hundredth.

The science Nes Letter warned of grasshoppers coming to the Dakotas and Montana.

Lake Andes Gun Club won the State Championship.
