LADY THUNDER TAKE 3RD PLACE IN GPC TOURNAMENT

The Lady Thunder hosted the Great Plains Conference volleyball tournament last Saturday, October 5th at Lake Andes. There were 12 teams in attendance including Burke, Corsica Stickney, Avon, Irene-Wakonda, Gayville-Volin, Centerville, Freeman Academy/Marion, Colome, AC/DC, Tripp-Delmont/Armour, Scotland and Alcester- Hudson.

AC/DC vs Alcester/Hudson The Thunder started out the tournament with a threeset match against Alcester Hudson. In the first set AC/DC took the win 27-25; the second set Alcester-Hudson won 25-19; and the third set went to AC/DC with a score of 25-21. Syriana Never Miss A Shot and Josie Brouwer led the team with 10 digs apiece. Brouwer also led the team in kills ending with a total of 14 for the game. Cami Ronfeldt had four ace blocks and team setter; Mahpiya Irving had 15 set assists.

AC/DC vs TDA

In the second game of the tournament against Tripp-Delmont/ Armour, AC/DC took the win in just two sets with scores of 25-23 and 25-19. Halle Olson led the team with 15 kills followed by Brouwer with six. Irving had 17 set assists and Brouwer and Never Miss A Shot had nine and eight digs respectively.

AC/DC vs Scotland

The third tournament game for AC/DC had the team up against Scotland. The Thunder finished this game in a twoset match with scores of 25-23 and 25-21. Olson again led the Thunder with 10 kills, followed by teammate, Brouwer with eight. Irving led the team in set assists a total of 13.

AC/DC vs Avon

In the fourth and final game of the day, AC/DC went up against Avon. Avon won the game in a two-set match with scores of 25-17 and 25-19. Brouwer led the team with six kills followed by Olson with four. Irving ended the game with nine set assists. Backrow receivers that stepped up for the Thunder were Never Miss A Shot and Brouwer with 10 and eight digs respectively. Olson served up four ace serves for AC/DC.

The Lady Thunder ended the tournament with a record of 3-1 and received third place. They are now 10-8 on the season and have a conference record of 8-2. Great job ladies!
