The Wagner volleyball team traveled to Sioux Falls to compete in the Pentagon Tournament. In pool play the Red Raiders first faced the Howard Tigers and picked up the win with scores of 25-20 and 25-10. In the second match of the day the Raiders met up with Florence/Henry and won with scores of 19-25, 25-20, and 2519. The last pool match was against Ethan and the Raiders came up short with scores of 19-25 and 21-25. The Lady Raiders finished second in pool play and entered bracket play where they met up with Mount Vernon/Plankinton where it was a good battle but lost 23-25 and 19-25.
Ravyn Medricky threw down 26 kills, Hannah Holzbauer added 24, and Adara Hopins had 18 on the day. Braxton Nedved moved the ball around well and tallied 74 assists. Behind the service line Holzbauer led with 27 points/5 aces, while Medricky earned 20 points/7 aces, Libby Kotab added 17 points/3 aces, Brylie Link had 17 points/2 aces and Adara Hopkins had 16 points/3 aces. In the backcourt Kotab led the defense scrapping for 39 digs, Medricky racked up 26, Holzbauer picked up 24, A. Hopkins added 18 and Hayden Knudsen had 16. Medricky led all blockers putting up 7 stops and Link added 2.
The Lady Red Raiders travel to Alexandria on Tuesday, October 1st to play Hanson and then to Elk Point/Jefferson on Thursday, October 3rd. Then on Saturday, October 5th Wagner hosts Tri-Valley with a 11:00 C match followed by JV and Varsity.
