LADY RED RAIDERS BATTLE WITH BURKE

The Wagner volleyball team hosted the Burke Lady Cougars on Monday, October 28th for their last regular season match. The Lady Raiders battled and played one of their best matches against a tough Burke team. The Red Raiders lost in 4 sets with scores of 21-25, 25-15, 10-25, and 20-25.

Ravyn Medricky and Hannah Holzbauer led the attack each throwing down 12 kills apiece, along with Brianna Fuchs earning 5 kills and Braxton Nedved adding 4. Nedved dished out 31 assists on the night. Medricky led all servers earning 11 points/3 aces, Kotab tallied 8 points/3 aces, Fuchs added 7 points, and Holzbauer had 6 points/2 aces. Kotab led the defense scrambling after 18 digs, Link picked up 13, while Holzbauer, Medricky and Hayden Knudsen all scrapped for 12 and Fuchs added 10. Medricky put up 4 stops up at the net while Link and Mateya Bruguier each earned 2. Nedved and Fuchs also added 1 block in the match.

The JV fell short with scores of 12-25 and 16-25. Outside hitters Adara Hopkins and Mateya Bruguier each had 2 kills in the match. Mila Hopkins had 3 assists. Kylin Inkso tallied 5 points/3 aces and Brianna Fuchs had 5 points/1 ace. M. Hopkins led the defense picking up 6 digs, A. Hopkins added 5, while Inkso and Hayden Knudsen each had 4. The JV team finishes their season with a 11-11 record.

The C team lost in two sets with scores of 15-25 and 20-25. Outside hitters Taelyn Knebel and Tegan Langdeaux had 2 kills in the match. Camry Link tallied 4 assists and Bella Kotab had 1. Langdeaux led behind the service line with 4 points/1 ace and C. Link had 3 points/1 ace. In the back court Knebel picked up 7 digs while Kendra VanDuysen and C. Link each added 5. The C team ends their season with a 6-9 record. Tana Langdeaux, long time Wagner volleyball coach, will be retiring from coaching at the end of the year. Langdeaux was recognized for her dedication for 28 years. Thank you and we will miss you Tana. Enjoy your time with your family. The Wagner volleyball team also presented the funds earned from our Dig Pink match to Arlis Kafka with a check for $2,017.49 to go towards the local Wagner Cancer Foundation. This money will help four cancer patients.
