LADY RAIDERS HOST WINNER WARRIORS IN HOME OPENER

The Lady Raiders hosted the Winner Warriors in girls basketball action last Friday night in Wagner. Wagner would start on a roll with a 21-6 advantage after the first quarter and increase their lead to 39-15 at the half. Wagner would increase their lead to 57-31 and come away with a 71-57 victory to start off the season. Wagner would shoot 28-52 from the floor for 54% while holding Winner to 20-55 for 36%.

Wagner would outboard Winner 37-21. The Raiders would dish out 22 assists on 28 makes.

Wagner would commit 17 turnovers compared to 13 from Winner. Ashlyn Koupal would lead all scorers dropping 32 points, grab 11 boards, dish out 7 assists, block 3 shots and come away with 3 steals. Lydia Yost would add another 15 points, 8 boards, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Braxton Nedved would be the 3rd player in double figures with 11 points, 5 boards, and 4 assists.

Ravyn Medricky would finish with 7 points, 7 boards, and 3 assists. Genesis Patterson would add 4 points and 3 boards for Wagner while Brooklin Nielsen would round out the scoring with 2 points. “Offensively we really got a lot accomplished in our first game. We did a great job of attacking the basket off the dribble. We made some really great passes. Defensively, we did a great job the first half of limiting shots, and controlling the glass. The second half we got a little fatigued and lost track of our players and gave them open looks. Something that will come when we get into better game shape.” It's been 5 years since we have swept the Warriors. The JV was also victorious with a 33-25 victory. Hannah Holzbauer would lead all scorers with 13 points. Katrina Zephier would add 8 points. Mateya Bruguier would add 4 while Brooklin Nielsen and Olivia Podzimek would each add 3 points. Braelyn Scott would finish with 2 points.
